Income and Indirect Tax Issues for Builders – Preparing for CRA’s Audit Pivot on the Industry

With CRA’s audit division recent “quiet” announcement of a pivot towards the construction and homebuilding industry, we have been preparing our clients for what to expect from income tax issues, GST/HST issues as well as possible Underused Housing Tax compliance and enforcement when the auditor comes knocking.

The session will highlight various technical tax issues we anticipate the auditors will be keying in on, based on decades of tax audit controversy and audit support with our builder and construction clients. We will also address several best practices in preparing for a potential audit, through to managing the audit process and auditor engagement.
